Gum Hygiene Treatment

Your gums and jaw bones are the structures that support your teeth, so they are essential to your general oral health.

Our team of dentists and hygienists will work with you to keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy, but it is important to be aware of the signs and symptoms of gum diseases.

Gum disease is caused by many factors. However, the two main causes are poor oral hygiene and smoking, so it is important to maintain a positive home care routine and to stop smoking.

Gum disease occurs in two stages. The first is called gingivitis and is an extremely common oral disease, affecting both adults and children. It is normally indicated by redness of the gums, swelling, and bleeding after brushing or flossing.

Gingivitis can be treated at home by improving your cleaning technique and using dentist-approved mouthwashes and toothpastes. When you visit us we will professionally clean your gums by removing any build-up of plaque from the gum line.

When gingivitis is left untreated, you are at risk of developing the second stage of gum disease, known as periodontitis.
