Inlays and Onlays

When the back teeth have been damaged by decay or trauma, they may need some extra support in the form of dental inlays or onlays.

These dental restorations are fixed to the tops of your back teeth and help you to maintain your natural teeth for as long as you can. They are also used to replace old silver fillings.

Built from resin, metal or porcelain, inlays are fixed within the four corners of the back teeth, whilst onlays are fixed to slightly overlap each cusp. They add bulk and strength to a tooth that has been damaged.
